Patrick Stinson is a man of many talents- producer, actor, red carpet reporter, TV host, the list goes on, but for practical purposes…you should get the point! His wit, charm, and charisma have been shining brightly under the Hollywood limelight for years. He has been rubbing shoulders with Hollywood’s elite, and has worked with the cream of the crop in the industry.  GroundSounds was thanking our lucky stars, when we got the chance to sit down with this one!  Check out our exclusive interview with Patrick Stinson below!

How did you get your start in entertainment television?

I started years ago in local news, did that for a few years and while reporting and anchoring in Austin TX I started covering entertainment.  It was something I always wanted to do and Austin, being the live music capital of the world provided the perfect opportunity.

So you’re an actor and a television host…if you had to choose between the two which area of entertainment do you prefer?

I don’t really consider myself an actor.  I’m a TV host who sometimes gets to act.  My heart belongs to hosting, reporting and writing.

You’ve acted in several films including The Perfect Storm, Corky Romano, Paparazzi, and others…do you have a favorite movie that you were in?

The Perfect Storm, without a doubt.  First, I didn’t have to audition.  My agent just called and said you wanna do this movie and I was like yes!  Second, it turned out to be a huge hit… nothing to do with me, or my performance, but still, I am in a Blockbuster hit!  And third, every time I interview George Clooney or Mark Wahlberg (or anyone from the film) I somehow manage to bring it up… Seriously, EVERY TIME.

What was it like being the creator and co-executive producer of Extreme Hollywood?

Extreme Hollywood was a great experience! It started out as a series of reports I created for TV Guide network, and then turned into it’s own show.  It was the first time I had ever pitched a project and got the Green Light.  On top of that, it was just me doing fun/extreme stuff that you see on tv or in the movies like learning to sword fight, seeing how they create weather for movies, handling semi-automatic weapons and more. A Blast!!!!

You’ve been working for REELZ since March of this year…how do you like working at REELZ?

I’ve actually been working for Reelz for about 2 years now.  The first year was freelance and then they decided they couldn’t live without me and put me under contract in March and I love it.  The tag line at Reelz is “TV about Movies.”  And they mean it; we talk to stars, actors, producers, directors and fans just about movies.  We don’t really get into the big Hollywood scandal of the moment, or the stars-caught-off-guard kinda thing, we talk Movies!!!!!

What was your favorite part about reporting for Hollywood Dailies?

My favorite part of reporting for Hollywood Dailies and from big Hollywood events is just feeling like I’m in the center of it all. Stars, Red Carpets, Screaming fans, its all very exciting.  I also love talking to people at the top of their game.  Usually the stars I talk to are A-list… Halle Berry, Tom Hanks, Oprah, Daniel Craig, Tina Fey, Eddie Murphy etc.  Those kinds of people inspire me and they inspire viewers.  You can always learn something from people who are living their dream.

How was it participating in the event to promote the movie Act Of Valor?

That Act of Valor was an eye opening experience.  I was in a group of reporters taking part in a press event to promote the movie “Act of Valor” being released on DVD.  The movie is all about Navy Seals, so the idea was to film it as they put us through a mini Navy Seal workout…. At least that’s what we thought.  We (the reporters) thought it would be a lite little workout just for the cameras… taking it easy on the often-pampered journalist (We are fragile).  Well, that didn’t happen.  We went through what felt like a 3-hour workout.  It was intense.  One guy threw up and I thought I was going to pass out several times.  Granted, it was nothing like what REAL Seals go through, but I learned my lesson.  I’m wayyyyy outta shape!

Who have you interviewed or worked with that is the most memorable?

I’ve gotten to interview Madonna several times and it’s a thrill each time.  I was fortunate enough to cover her marriage to Guy Ritchie in 2000 in Dornoch, Scotland.   The marriage didn’t last but it’s a trip I will never forget.

I also ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS look forward to interviewing Will Smith.  He is simply a great guy, a fantastic interview and a MOVIE STAR!!!!!

What advice would you give aspiring reporters and hosts?

Be smart, do your homework, try to tap into your common sense and most importantly be yourself… Unless you’re an idiot / jerk, then be someone elseJ

What other goals and endeavors are you looking to tackle and accomplish in the future?

I hope to keep doing what I do for a while, at the same time expanding my brand.  TV production is my passion.  I want to continue to create shows and pitch ideas and canvas the world of entertainment.

What are your hobbies? What do you like to do outside of entertainment?

I’m lucky because I love what I do.  When I’m not at a movie for work, I’m probably at a movie for pleasure.  I’m also a little bit of a news junkie.  I’ve always got my eye on CNN, MSNBC, The Huffington Post, The Daily Show, The Today Show, GMA and CBS This Morning and various blogs among others.

How would you rate your karaoke skills…do you think you have what it takes to be a Karaoke Superstar?!

The fact that I hosted a show called Karaoke Superstars is the ultimate irony, cause I literally can’t sing at all.  Not one note.
