I personally love this sibling-trio who fastidiously appear at their shows with ornate 1960’s outfits, that underlay the black forest mane of hair-acting as the coiling ribbon on what I perceive to be the package of sunflower children gesticulating their way into a defining moment of my generation.
After watching a few Haim videos online, the sister-trio certainly have sass-as well as those red-wine/diazepam dark undertones that line the underbelly of every great artist.
Their newest release, “Falling”, is fucking immense (sod flowery adjectives, the song deserves an expletive-it’s that good). Generally, Haim have a way of wooing and cooing their audience with the build-up to the chorus and spasmodic huffs that lead sister Haim juts out. The defining point of the song is when Danielle Haim determinedly soothes, “and if it gets rough, it’s time to get rough”.
