Artist Spotlight: KIDFORCE

Brendon Goldwasser

This week, let me introduce to you KIDFORCE. This local artist is one you need to know about. He’s bringing a new attitude into the electronic music scene. I wouldn’t exactly throw him into the EDM genre, but I suppose if Kaskade were to remix his song, it might be alright to do so. I would say he is more along the lines of LMFAO, MSTRKRFT, and hell that’s as many acronyms as I want to use in a sentence, so on to the next one. In all seriousness, though, this kid is really talented and is worth listening to.

KIDFORCE, known by his peers as Rhett Raha, began making music when he was 14 and at 15 he was writing and recording in a rock band. At 19, he began to focus all of his efforts on music. His band, Kid Force, recorded an EP and quickly began gigging with acts like Far East Movement, Schwayze, and Trouble Andrew. Eventually, in the summer of 2011 the other members left Kid Force, so naturally he made his moniker KIDFORCE. Since then he’s been honing his skills as a performer and playing gigs, mostly free, around town. He’s also busy recording original songs and remixing other songs by artists such as Blur and Mumiy Troll (awesome Russian band, check them out, too!).

His live show is like being at a rock concert and a dance party all at the same time. He’s got an incredible stage presence and really knows how to get the crowd moving. When you see him going nuts on stage and really getting into the songs, it reassures you that there are still artists who try to make their live show a truly unique experience, not just another bland show on your calendar of events.

He has an EP with 4 songs on Spotify for you to listen to, but I also suggest viewing his Soundcloud page to hear some other singles that aren’t on Spotify. If you’re enjoying the sounds, be sure to “Like” his Facebook page and subscribe to his YouTube channel. He’s all about D.I.Y. and his videos are clever, creative, and entertaining. My favorite tracks are “Brunettes (Do It Better)” off of Doom Box EP and “The One ft. Mann” which is a solid electro remix of the Justice track “Phantom Pt. II”. This is straight up feel good party music. Put it on, turn it up, and have some fun!
