Jasmine Nichol – “trippy things”

Normally I post big names that ya’ll might have heard of or read about on other blogs, but today I have a special local, grain-free, organic treat for ya’ll. Straight out of the historically talented and always innovative Bay Area in California, I’d like to share with ya’ll, Jasmine Nichol.

This girl sounds like the sweet, sweet love child of Erykah Badu and Jhene Aiko. Not that she can simply be described and passed off as artists that already exist, this girl definitely has something very unique about her. The minute I heard her I felt empowered to take it upon myself to write about what I heard. The song that actually inspired me to get up and write this is called Trippy Things, produced by Sacramento native, Frank Bera.
The beat, the voice, the content; an emotion inducing tonic to my ears. This shit gave me feelings I haven’t had since fucking high school. Nostalgic, hopeless, uplifted, optimistic, lovely, aroused… honestly, all these words I’m writing can’t do any justice compared to me actually sharing it with ya’ll. Check out Jasmine Nicol’s Trippy Things, produced by my good man, Frank Bera. Be sure to check out the rest of her Soundcloud as well. Definitely a lot of goodies and gems on there.
