California based indie electronica band The Limousines, have busted out the jams with the release of their latest album Hush. The duo, which consist of multi-instrumentalist/producer Giovanni Giusti and songwriter/vocalist Eric Victorino haven’t missed a beat!

GroundSounds recently went on the grind and caught up with Gio, check out our exclusive interview with him below.

“Love Is A Dog From Hell” is a fantastic song and that line really sticks out. How did you come up with that line/concept?

Gio: I cant tell you exactly where it came from being that Eric writes all his lyrics in his own world.. but i know Eric was happy he had written a “one line chorus” song and so was I. When I finishedthe music, I knew it was gonna be something special after Eric had his way with it.

Your video for the song is incredibly entertaining and features a series of striking visuals. What was the idea or goal for the video?

Gio: We initially just wanted to do a 20 sec album trailer but we just kept going with it and made enough cool looking visuals to put together for a video. I think the goal was “black and white slow motion epic looking shots that can hold enough curiosity and intrigue.. Oh, and we need a wolf.”

How did you guys come up with the name The Limousines? Were there any other possible band names really stood out?

Gio: Eric had told me when we first decided to work on music together that he always wanted to be in a band called The Limousines. It’s hard to spell. We set up a music myspace page as “ThePanic Room” first but that changed quickly.

You’ve got a coast-to-coast tour starting in October with Mona. What are you most looking forward to on this tour? Are there any locations or venues that you are particularly excited to visit?

Gio: looking forward to just getting out there and hearing people sing along again to new material, that’s always rad. I can’t wait for NY, Seattle and LA. I think these venues are all new to us, so that’s exciting.

Can you tell us about the inspiration and creative process behind your latest album Hush?

Gio: We knew once we started creating material for the new album, it was sounding much more mature and deep. Not only with lyrics but music as well. It has it’s dark sides but hints of dance-pop 80’s kept popping up. I remember listening to a lot of depeche mode and new order at that time.

If you could be a cookie what kind of cookie would you be?

Gio: Peanut Butter, of course.

What other hobbies do you guys have besides making music?

Gio: We both like to paint and illustrate with different kinds of visual art. We’re also both big fans of our artwork individually. We’ve actually thought about doing a limos art show before. I also play some tennis and golf like an old man.

Are there any bands or musicians that you would like to collaborate with in the future?

Gio: Dream Collabs? Daft Punk, Prodigy, The Cure, The Smiths, Chromeo, Flume, Gessafelstein, The Cranberries, Kendrick Lamar, Peter Gabriel

What are you guys currently listening to?

Gio: Ghost Loft, Flume, HAIM, Beacon, Phil Collins, phantogram, BANKS, Disclosure, Joey BadA$$

Do you have any plans for after the tour?

Gio: Writing more music 🙂

When can fans expect more music?

Gio: As soon as its done!
