Their breakout track “Chelsea Dagger”, put them on the map, but The Fratellis keep coming back with hits.  With the release of their third studio album We Need Medicine, the guys are back on the grind, rocking out. GroundSounds recently caught up with front man Jon for an exclusive interview check it out below.

Can you tell us about the creative process and inspiration for your latest album We Need Medicine?

It was really just written and recorded to please ourselves, the only thought through any of it was “Do I like this song”?

What is one thing that people should see and eat in Glasgow?

I’m not sure about to eat, our cuisine makes sense to us but may frighten outsiders! The west end of the city is a nice place to hang around in, you might see me wandering around!

We had read that Jon recently had issues with his voice, how is everything going now? Hopefully all is better.

Yeah I lost it completely, very frustrating, but I’m just the latest in a line a million long who that’s happened to, I’d love a digital voice box that never breaks…

What do you guys like to do outside of music?

I can’t speak for the others but I do nothing! I must find a hobby.

Can you tell us about working on the track ‘She’s Not Gone Yet But She’s Leaving’ what was it like bringing this to fruition?

Some songs take care of themselves; this is one of those songs. It sounds odd to say but as long as everyone has the right idea the song should play itself.

Could you guys share some life advice with us?

Always wear clean underwear incase you get knocked over by a bus..

What can you reveal to us about the new music you guys are currently working on? What can fans expect?

More of the same you lucky people!

What moment in 2013 stood out the most for The Fratellis?

Finding out some people still wanted to come see us play was nice

What are you guys looking forward to most in 2014?

Some more people coming to see us play!
