New York’s Secret Someones are gaining steam and building a big buzz with their self-titled album. They’ve also been getting even bigger exposure on tour with Marianas Trench. The band has given us a peek into their world while on tour and we’re excited to bring you their tour diary, complete with pics below! Be sure to follow them online and get their music on your radar:

Hi! Secret Someones here. Thought we’d give you a little window into our life on tour with Marianas Trench. We’ll start with Day 1 and go from there…

Tuesday, Nov. 3rd., 4 a.m. – The alarm goes off. We wake up to a morning that feels like the dead of night, make sure dishes are washed and trash has been taken out, and head to the airport to catch our first flight to Chicago. We and our guitars are ushered kindly on to the plane, where we promptly pass out. We’re not so lucky on the second flight to Portland–our guitars aren’t allowed on due to limited overhead bin space, so we gate check them reluctantly and hope for the best.

A few naps and podcasts later, we arrive in Portland. Our guitars are safe and sound, luggage rolls out where it’s supposed to, we meet up with our new sound guy for the first time (we love him! Phew!), and we’re on our way to the KPSU radio station to do a short interview and play three acoustic songs. After that, we make a quick coffee (lifeblood) stop before driving to the venue.

Tonight, it’s the Wonder Ballroom. There’s a line of fans outside that winds around the block. Lots of Marianas Trench merchandise in their hands, lots of dyed hair, lots of eager smiles. Everyone inside is bustling around getting set up for the show, but we exchange quick hugs with the guys from Marianas Trench (we became friends with them when we toured Australia together a year ago), and meet their crew. Despite a few first day technical glitches and some tiredness due to time zone changes, the show goes very well for everyone. The enthusiastic, screaming crowd brings us to life. We sign some CDs and posters, pack up our gear, and head to the hotel to sleep, wake up, and do it all again the next day.

The tour has continued to be a blast since that first day! The Marianas Trench band and crew are so kind and helpful, and their audiences have been just as welcoming. It seems to be a good fit– their fans seem to dig that our music also features a lot of harmonies within pop rock songs.

We had a wonderful day off in Seattle, complete with exploration of the market:

…and seeing the new James Bond movie with members of the Marianas crew:

Some of us gambled (and lost) for the first time in Reno:

…and we saw our first beautiful snow of the winter on our way to San Francisco!

We released our first full-length record on Cherrytree Records in October, and we’re so excited to be sharing it with new people all overthe country. Check out our Website to see if we’re coming to a city near you! We’ll also be continuing our tour with Marianas Trench this coming January and February. Hope to see you soon!
