New Hampshire based jam band Roots of Creation are gearing up for the release of ‘Livin Free‘, their 18-track studio LP, it will be dropping in April, complimented by a 3-disc deluxe collection with both dub/remix and acoustic versions of certain tracks. One of those tracks, the acoustic version of “Struggle” is premiering today exclusively on GroundSounds.

This version highlights frontman/guitarist Brett Wilson who recorded the single with one microphone, live in studio with no overdubs or editing.

RoC’s Wilson had this to say “Struggle”:

“With about half of the acoustic material we recorded for our upcoming triple album, the band, producer Pete Peloquin, and I decided to take an old school approach to the process and only use one microphone. This was truly an eye-opening experience since you have to essentially mix the track on the fly by adjusting how close your guitar and mouth are to the microphone and move up and down, left and right until you have that perfect balance. We also didn’t do any overdubs on this solo acoustic rendition, one take and no editing. It lets the lyrics shine through and allows you to take a walk in my shoes for a couple minutes and look through the window of my soul. This is the purest way you you listen to the track in its most raw form that sounds exactly how it did when I wrote it.”

Stream “Struggle” below and keep a lookout for ‘Livin Free’ dropping in April.
