New Zealand multi-instrumentalist/producer/DJ Lord Echo is back with Harmonies, the newest LP from the underground super-producer. It’s no surprise that this album is unique and adds to his historically distinctive mutations of Reggae and Funk, with Disco, African soul, Techno and Jazz. In other words, he has returned from the wilderness with a truly special treat for his followers. This is real music, made with extreme attention to detail and it’s clearly a good sign that this not going to be the last album from Echo. If anything, I’d say he’s just getting started. I believe he could become an extremely important music figure that influences a lot of other music and art in the future.
The album features some amazing artists and musicians, coming from all genres. The list includes Toby Laing (Fat Freddy’s Drop), the long time associate and advisor, Mara TK (Electric Wire Hustle) – the golden voiced poster boy of soulful experimentation, Dr. Leila Adu – the enigmatic and unique composer, songstress and muse, Lucien Johnson – the charmingly well read saxophonist and composer, and of course the fabulous Lisa Tomlins – who slayed everybody with her raw and soulful performance of “Thinking Of You.” Stream this fantastic new LP below!
