Just in time for Memorial Day and the start of summer, we have the latest aural treat from the talented songwriter J.Lauryn. Hailing originally from Kailua, Hawaii, Lauryn brings warm sounds and vibes to everything she does including her upcoming album, Golden Year.
GroundSounds is happy to bring you the exclusive premiere of Lauryn’s latest single, “Rum & Ting.” The track is a perfect slice of rhythmic reggae meets pop with Lauryn’s infectious vocals layered over the top.
“‘Rum & Ting’ was the final song recorded for the Golden Year album,” shares Lauryn. “I was in Jamaica a couple months back and saw the words ‘Rum & Ting’ on a billboard. It’s a famous Jamaican drink that is both sweet and sour. As soon as I saw that the idea hit me…I started humming ‘my sweet my sour my rum & ting.’
When I got back to LA I created the song, starting with my ukulele and producing and writing around that. After a few hours “Rum & Ting” was fully produced, written, recorded, and alive!! The storyline is so happy and full of love, I knew it was bound to make people smile and move after the first listen!”
Stream J.Lauryn’s “Rum & Ting” and look for Golden Year out on May 29th.
