Brooklyn artist Gabrielle Marlena is set to release her debut album Good Music For You tomorrow, and she’s kind enough to give us a sneak peek today. The album has a feel-good vibe to it, with endearing melodies, charming vocals, and memorable lyrics. Described perfectly as a “folk odyssey of love songs,” the album is one that you’re bound to play over and over.

In her own words:

“This album is a very personal project for me. The title ‘Good Music For You’ comes from the first lines on the record, “I can only make good music when my heart is split in two, so I could never make good music for you.” I wrote that line with my ex-boyfriend in the room, when I was in Australia on a study abroad semester, before I went back to Montreal, before I graduated from college, before I moved to New York and decided to make a record. The aftermath of leaving my first love and learning how to accept my heartache and eventually move on is what made this album, and finishing it provided for me the closure that I needed. Something I never got from the person that the songs speak to. But it’s important to note, that even though the album is called ‘Good Music For You,’ it’s not really FOR this person. It was written, recorded, and released entirely for me, for my healing, and for my growth. I hope that this project will help others who find themselves in the midst of the confusion, anger, and pain that comes with losing love.”

Stream the album below and be sure to pick up the album when it comes out tomorrow! If you’re in the NYC area, check out her album release party on 8/15 at Rockwood Stage 1.
