DC pop-rockers Sub-Radio know a thing about creating fun music that’ll get you moving. The band’’s clean guitars, dancefloor rhythms, and powerful vocals have garnered comparisons to established pop-rock acts like Walk The Moon and Two Door Cinema Club. To show you what we mean, give their new single “What Are We” a spin:

We fell in love with the track and are pumped for their upcoming EP Headfirst, out in April. The band was kind enough to put together a fantastic playlist of 10 songs that make them want to dance. Click the link, press play, then read along below as the band gives their thoughts on each track. Get ready to get movin!

Undercover Martyn – Two Door Cinema Club: Two door has been a huge influence on us over the years. This song is a perfect example of high energy chords and an explosive dance beat. You can’t listen to this song and not move.

New Rules – Dua Lipa: 3 words> This. Song. BOPS. She’s a pop queen and she slays everything she touches. We know you’ve heard it, we know you’ve danced to it, no need to be shy with this one.

One Foot – WALK THE MOON is a great one to walk-dance to. You might (briefly) worry about looking foolish to others who can’t hear the tune because you have headphones in, but the groove is overpowering and you can’t help but crush the sidewalk in your way to class.

i – Kendrick Lamar: This is a straight BOP from the best album of the decade and as soon as the beat kicks in your body just knows what to do. Not to mention the sick hook and the self-love message.

My Body – Young The Giant: We’ve been covering this song for years because everyone knows it rips. That rolling drum line, the way Sameer Gadhia just tears into the chorus. My body tells me yes, and I listen.

Mason Jar – Smallpools: It’s hard not to pick all the songs these guys have written but Mason Jar is an instant indie pop classic with a hook that’s easy to shout and will keep you moving.

Never Give Up On Me – Misterwives:  it has a super fun melody and the groove pushes you forward by jumping on the ‘and’ of 1 in key spots while preserving a 4-to-the-floor danceable feel throughout. And the post-chorus just rocks.

Can’t Back Down – Bad Rabbits: The groove in this song just really makes all of us want to dance when the chorus hits. In fact, there’s a video out there of Mike Chinen dancing to this song!

September – Earth, Wind, and Fire: This one needs little explanation. It’s THE definitional 70’s groove, and boasts arguably the most infectious and sing-along-able chorus ever written. I bet we got it stuck in your head just by mentioning it.

Saint Motel – My Type: A brass-driven, shout-fueled banger. The verses let you relax, but only to give your neck a rest between bouts of head-bobbing and fist-pumping in the choruses.
