Brooklyn-based artist Rue Snider has been turning heads with his combination of 80’s rock and indie-folk and punk. He has built a loyal fan base after years of touring and releasing music. He recently released “Vamonos”, the first single off of his third studio album, City Living, and we are thrilled to premiere the official video for the track below! The video utilizes a pink bear to bring some lightness and levity to the thoughtful, beautiful song. We’re excited to hear what you think about this one!

In his own words:

The song lyric is incredibly earnest. I wanted to create something visual that represented the emotion of the song but went in an extreme direction to lighten it up and make the viewer laugh rather than cry. I think serious, high concept videos are very difficult to do and usually don’t work. We went super DIY and tried to make everything in the video obviously go in that direction instead of trying to pretend like it was something it wasn’t.

The song is about a break up. The narrator is really trying to hold it together and say goodbye to this person without falling apart. He keeps talking and talking to kind of mask his pain. Often a person looks back years later and sees their behavior as kind of ridiculous, but we all do it. My thought was what if we play up the ridiculousness and overwhelming nature of a breakup by making the story of the video ridiculous. Everybody has a friend who was dying while breaking up with someone that all of her friends knew was a terrible fit from the beginning. What if that terrible fit wasn’t just a weirdo. What if it was a pink, stuffed bear? So the video goes from there. It’s the inability to let go of something that is obviously not right for you.
