BROOKLYN NEW YORK PREMIERES

PREMIERE: Paper Fairy – “Haunted”

It’s that time of year again where we return to all things spooky and terrifying. Not unlike Steve Martin’s turn in the Little Shop of Horrors film, Brooklyn-based rocker Paper Fairy is here to re-stoke fears of the Dentist’s chair. Groundsounds is debuting the video for his single “Haunted” off of the forthcoming Haunter Haunted LP out October 26.

The clip’s director Ivana Dizdar details, “I never thought I’d shoot a fetish video in a Brooklyn dental office. The idea came to me in a dream. A girl was masturbating in a dental chair: her sweaty ass against the leather seat, the clinical light in her face, a mouth full of blood. The concept aligned with Paper Fairy’s Haunted: the song’s at once creepy and dreamy vibe, and those off-putting moments that remind us the line between disturbing and seductive can be thin as floss.

We shot the video over a weekend in May. We had the office to ourselves: no dentists or patients—just us and an endless supply of latex gloves, the requisite dental equipment, artificial teeth, that sexy leather chair, and a tube of cherry-flavored gore. Some of these things were more or less anthropomorphic; all were uncanny. The objects weren’t only our subjects but also, it turned out, our collaborators: they inspired our vision, they guided the performance and camera work, they made us cringe, and they made us laugh.

If I had one wish, the music video would appear on loop as the waiting room TV content in dental offices across America.”
