Originating from Gainesville, FL, Sister Hazel is comprised of five gifted, seasoned musicians whose well-spring of natural talent has been called “one of the Top 100 Most Influential Independent Performers of the last 15 years” by Performing Songwriter Magazine. Song “All for You,” topped the adult alternative charts during the summer of 1997 and the success propelled their album to platinum status. You probably didn’t need all that background, they’re Sister Freaking Hazel! For those that need some catching up though, they recently released their new EP Wind on September 7th.

Today we’re excited to ring in the holiday season with an acoustic video of their song “One Little Christmas Tree” below! The video gets you in the holiday spirit immediately, showcasing great guitar work and an addicting melody. Let’s make this one a new staple, shall we?

We asked the guys some questions about the holidays and Ryan Newell shared some of his favorites below:

Do you have a family tradition you love to do each Christmas?
Every year the whole family exchanges gag gifts on Christmas Eve. It’s absolutely hilarious. You can choose a gift from the pile or steal a gift that has already been opened.

I need a new iPhone. I have to charge my current phone four times a day. It’s time.

What was a popular gift that most children wanted when you were growing up?
Skateboarding was HUGE when I was growing up. I guess it still is quite popular. A new skateboard was the holy grail.

Do you have a favorite Christmas movie?
A Christmas Story. Like the movie, I also received a BB gun on Christmas and heard the phrase”you’re going to shoot your eye out. “ many times.

What about a favorite Christmas food?
I grew up in the South, so Christmas meals are all about southern comfort food.

What is your favorite Christmas song/album?
Gene Autry “His Christmas Album “ was always playing during the season. It classic versions of all the favorites. It takes me back to my childhood.

Name three things you are thankful for this year?
1. My eight month old daughter. My wife and the rest of my family.
2.  My amazing friendships.
3. All of my family and friends’ health.

Any New Year’s resolutions?
I have to ramp up my exercise routine. Right now it doesn’t really exist.
