HjNX is a Toronto-based duo fronted by multi-instrumentalist Gregory Ambrose Calderone and supported by co-writer/co-producer Nicemark. Calderone has contributed to North America’s music and film industries since 2005. A seasoned guitarist/keys player, Calderone turned to electronic-based songwriting that largely utilizes programmed drums and digital synthesizers when he launched genre-bending studio/label Apt. Sea with his brother/fellow musician Nicemark.
Brand new single “Shake Down” channels fury, spawned by a DIY attitude that combined their love for 808s with noisey, fuzz bass. Lyrically, it was impossible to ignore everything that was boiling over in the world; from a global pandemic that saw governments prioritizing the economy over human lives, to abhorrent racialized police brutality, to election campaigns spewing revolting lies.
