Toronto’s Slow Death Lights is the kind of eclectic, moody and atmospheric metal band you might expect co-founder and producer Andre Skinner to be involved with. SDL released their debut EP, Broken Spirit Desert Nightmare, in 2015 and followed with a self-titled LP in 2017.
Ahead of their upcoming album, due out this fall, the band has shared a new single. “I Wanna Be Somebody,” is a cover of W.A.S.P.’s 1984 hit and features the original W.A.S.P. guitarist Chris Holmes as a special guest. The track is a moody half-time version of this primordial track, a fitting tribute loaded with mammoth drums, haunting vocals, and layers of rhythm guitars.
