If Only For The Night is the third album from Toronto born singer-songwriter Phillip Vonesh. These eight songs tell stories of hard goodbyes, frustration, depression, moving forward and ultimately coming to terms with all of it.
“Fly Over State” is a product of a co-writing session with Albertan songwriter Hannah Gazso, who Vonesh met at a virtual incubator program (Canada’s Music Incubator). Gazso shared a lyric that mentioned the idea of being a “flyover state,” and the rest of the story wrote itself easily. Vonesh reached into his own personal history with his ex to explore the feeling of unrequited love and of just being a convenient hook-up for someone.
Vonesh’s upcoming album is produced by Aaron Goldstein (Kathleen Edwards, City & Colour), and has a guest feature on the keys from Scott Galloway (Dean Brody) on “Fly Over State.”
