Montreal-based pop/R&B artist Satya returns with “Realness,” a soulful, empowering anthem about finding true, unconditional love in a world that often feels chaotic and unsteady. The single blends sleek, modern R&B textures with Satya’s warm, emotive voice – offering both sensuality and strength in equal measure.
Written by Tranell Antoine and co-written alongside Satya and Garett Raffanelli, “Realness” is rooted in the profound experience of discovering loyalty, trust, and emotional safety. For Satya, it’s about celebrating love that’s genuine, grounding, and rare. “The title captures the core essence of the song – it’s about love that is sincere, unfiltered, and unwavering,” she explains. “It’s not just romance – it’s the authenticity and depth behind it that makes it so powerful.”
With its slow tempo, layered harmonies, and intimate production choices by Domeno – from glowing synth pads to reverb-soaked backing vocals – “Realness” embodies the warmth and clarity of love at its truest form. Simple, direct, and deeply resonant, it distills the awe of experiencing something profoundly new.
“Realness” feels like a deep exhale – a moment of peace in a chaotic world. It brings a sense of calm, safety, and intimacy. There’s a warmth in the lyrics and sound that makes you feel held. – Satya
With “Realness,” Satya continues to define herself as one of Canada’s most compelling young voices, sharing songs that remind us of what it means to be seen, safe, and truly loved.
- What did you enjoy most about the creation of this new release?
For me, it is the process that I enjoy the most. The journey that music can take you on has always been infatuating. Being able to take an event or emotion and create art from it, all while having fun, is the greatest blessing. Writing songs and exchanging with others in the field is incomparable, it is where I am the most comfortable, where I belong. The feeling you get from finally releasing a song that you worked hard to create is a feeling of pure bliss. Growing up surrounded by people who struggled with emotional vulnerability and matching words to emotions, I always felt compelled to be a translator, so my music is my wishful way of helping others feel heard and seen, and fostering a supportive community.
- Share a nugget of advice that has resonated with you most over the years.
Trust your intuition. This important piece of advice has saved me from heartache countless times over my career. Surround yourself with trustworthy people and always have your back first. It is hard to navigate at first, but remember that only you know what is best for you, if something does not feel right, do not succumb to the pressure of others. If you remain true to yourself and your vision, you will find your community, just trust the process, because it can take time.
- Who would be your dream artist/band to co-headline a tour with?
This is a tough question because I love so many artists, but I must say, right now, I would adore working with SZA, H.E,R, Kehlani, and Leon Bridges. I feel like our sounds and visions mesh well together and we could create a great show. They are such great inspirations, being able to learn from one of them would be a dream come true.
- What sets your music apart from others in your genre?
My goal with my art is not to be set apart, but rather to connect with others about shared experiences or emotions. This goal is what continuously pushes me to be as raw and honest as possible with my fans. I want people to feel less alone. We may not all live the same lives, come from the same backgrounds, but emotions are universal. Music is such a great connector and I use this craft for the benefit of others, I am devoted to fostering positivity in our community before all.
- Tell us what your favourite song is at the moment and why.
“Peaceful Place” by Leon Bridges. Just because the words he says resonate with me so much❤️
Thank you for this opportunity.
