Saint John, New Brunswick–based Americana and roots-rock artist Jaclyn Reinhart returns with “Hero Call,” a powerful anthem about taking chances, embracing risk, and stepping into your own power. Inspired by a tarot card reading, the track translates personal insight into cinematic, roots-rock energy with driving guitars, bold vocals, and a message that resonates long after the song ends.
“I wrote ‘Hero Call’ after a tarot card reading, and the idea found its way to the poker table, because you don’t get to choose the cards you’re dealt, but you do get to choose how you play them,” Reinhart explains. “Taking chances means you’ve got a better shot at winning than not playing at all.”
Written and recorded with producer Don Levandier (The Motorleague) and finished by Marvin T at Tide Studio, the single combines Reinhart’s emotive vocals with a raw roots-rock arrangement. Big guitars, steady rhythms, and dynamic production bring the song’s empowering message to life. “Don’s vision pushed me to take things to the next level,” Reinhart shares. “This track illuminates the heart of the song and inspires listeners through an Americana rock anthem.”
“Hero Call” leads Reinhart’s upcoming full-length album, Heroes, produced by Levandier, which weaves themes of resilience, self-discovery, and courage into anthemic, cinematic tracks. With this release, Reinhart is poised to reach new audiences across Canada, the U.S., and beyond, delivering a message that everyone can be their own hero, no matter the hand they’re dealt.
1. What did you enjoy most about the creation of this new release?
“Hero Call” came to life after an incredible tarot reading I had a couple of years ago, one that helped me see myself clearly and realize that hesitation doesn’t make big things happen. I had recorded the session and kept listening to it over the following months. One day, I started writing about how it had impacted me, and somehow, it evolved into a poker theme! I was so inspired, and as new opportunities began to appear in my musical life, the message became clear: take the cards you have and play your best hand.
I wrote most of the song, then worked with my bandmate and boyfriend to refine it before bringing it to my producer, Don Levandier. Through the writing process, my partner and I learned a lot about each other. There were moments of disagreement, but also powerful “aha” moments. We were stepping into new territory as a couple, taking a chance on something unfamiliar, and in doing so, we grew stronger together, just like the message of the song.
2. Share a nugget of advice that has resonated with you most over the years.
“You can have it all.” That’s something my amazing life coach, Sharon, told me years ago when I was struggling to sort out my priorities, feeling like if I chose music, I’d lose my family connection, and vice versa. For a long time, I felt like I was behind. But looking back, everything I’ve built — my career, my music, my sobriety, my family, happened exactly when it was meant to. I do have it all, and I’m so grateful for who I’ve become. Working hard, believing in yourself, and staying authentic always leads to the right opportunities.
3. Who would be your dream artist/band to co-headline a tour with?
I’d love to share a stage with Grace Potter or Sheryl Crow. Both have that raw, rootsy energy and emotional storytelling that inspire me. I am their audience and I believe my music would resonate with theirs as well. Give them my number please!
4. What sets your music apart from others in your genre?
This question is always tough because I’m not sure I am set apart, and honestly, I’m okay with that. I think what makes my music resonate is that it’s real and relatable. I want to connect with people on the same level, the way other artists have connected with me. Most of my songs come straight from my own life experiences, but sometimes I dig deep and tap into empathy to tell someone else’s story too. I love the roots rock/Americana genre because it’s so honest at its core. Maybe what makes me different is that I know I’m not, and that’s what keeps my music grounded.
5. Tell us what your favourite song is at the moment and why.
Right now, I can’t stop listening to “Poison In My Well” by Grace Potter and Maggie Rose. I love the melody and the lyrics, they’re so catchy and full of attitude. It actually made me fall in love with Maggie Rose, who I discovered through Grace’s co-write with her.
