Tyla Gives Back in a Big Way With “That Girl” Music Scholarship Celebrating APOP*

Tyla is taking her star power beyond the stage and putting the next generation of women in position to win.

The global superstar is opening a new door for aspiring female musicians with the launch of the “That Girl” Music Scholarship, a new initiative inspired by her empowering A*POP track of the same name. While the South African hitmaker continues to make waves worldwide, she’s also creating opportunities for young women looking to turn their passion for music into a future career.

Joining forces with Sony Music and the Institute of International Education, Tyla is helping 10 college students take a meaningful step toward their creative ambitions. Each selected student will receive $5,000 in scholarship funding, with awards going to applicants who demonstrate strong academic performance alongside financial need. Historically Black Colleges and Universities will receive priority consideration, bringing additional support to students pursuing their place in the music and arts industries.

The initiative will reach across several stops on THE A*POP WORLD TOUR, connecting eligible students in New York City, Washington, D.C., Tampa, Atlanta, Houston, and Los Angeles with the opportunity to apply. Four more scholarships will be awarded in South Africa, Tyla’s home country, extending the program’s impact beyond the U.S. and back to the roots of her own journey.

And the experience goes beyond helping cover tuition. Recipients will also get concert tickets and an exclusive meet-and-greet with Tyla, giving them a chance to connect with the artist behind the initiative and experience her world up close.

Students must be enrolled full-time in an undergraduate program when the tour reaches their local market and be pursuing a degree in music or a related arts field. The application process calls for a personal statement, a 30-second video, an academic transcript, and documentation showing financial need. Click HERE for more details.
