It’s been a little over a year since we last checked in with Deidre & the Dark. Since then, the aural and aesthetic brainchild of Brooklyn-based artist Deidre Muro has gone on to release a debut LP, Variety Hour, featuring a colorful blend of classic pop sounds and styles.
Today, GroundSounds is excited to bring you the exclusive premiere of the visual companion to single “Bad Day,” ahead of its release on vinyl (pre-order).
The brilliantly executed video was directed and animated by Mark Lopez who brings Deidre’s vivacious narrative world to life. (Lopez recently gained acclaim for “Segregated By Design” which premiered at AmDocs Film Festival and became a Vimeo Staff Pick)
Deidre shares; “Mark and I crossed paths while he was making his film Segregated By Design, which has some of my music in the score. When he reached out about doing a music video together, I was so excited because I adore his style and I knew he would make something awesome. And I was right! The charmingly frustrating world he created for our poor leading lady is the perfect visual for the song, which is all about having a pretty terrible day, but also being able to shake it off.”
