Percussionist, composer, and producer Julian Loida has a thirst to participate in and experience a range of sounds due in part to his synesthesia. Music is a full-body experience for him, with sounds often invoking involuntary sensations of color, texture, or even taste for this Boston jazz/folk/classical musician.
Loida’s musical curiosity and open-mindedness has propelled him towards a wide-range of genres and artistic endeavours. The latest of which is sophomore LP, Giverny, out on May 19th. “You Will Be Missed” is the new single, which was inspired by the simultaneous sorrow and joy of missing someone. Perhaps, somebody who needed to be out of your life for the toxicity they brought into it. You could be holding space for yourself to miss them, but want to celebrate that they are gone, as you face the trauma from all sides.
