Nashville Based Pop Trio Moody Joody Prepare For Debut LP ‘Plain Jane’ with New Single “Fantasyland”

With anticipation building around their debut album Plain Jane, out October 30 via Photo Finish Records, rising pop trio Moody Joody are turning up the momentum with “Fantasyland.” Propulsive and instantly catchy, the electro-pop cut taps into the rush of early-2010s indie-pop while giving that sound a fresh, modern edge. It’s the kind of track built to hit fast—and stick around.

For Hall, the idea behind “Fantasyland” came from a conversation with her therapist after she found herself stuck in a toxic relationship cycle. Her therapist bluntly pointed out that she was living in a “Fantasyland”—holding onto the idea that a relationship that had become unhealthy would somehow change.

That tension became the song’s core. Hall was still romanticizing the relationship, caught between the version of it that she wanted and the reality in front of her. The phrase “lying in my fantasyland” captures that contradiction: on one level, it evokes the carefree image of floating around with your head in the clouds; on another, it admits that she was lying to herself.

That same push and pull runs through the production. “Fantasyland” pairs shimmering, feel-good electro-pop with lyrics that are knowingly sarcastic and drenched in rose-colored nostalgia—a bright, glossy sound masking the realization underneath.
