Nashville genre-bender ELKE is officially stepping back into the spotlight. After announcing her highly anticipated return earlier this month, the rising artist continues to build momentum toward her most vulnerable body of work yet, Big Mike, arriving October 30 via Congrats Records.
Keeping the anticipation high, ELKE has unleashed the project’s second advance offering, “Breathless,” a haunting new track influenced by The Virgin Suicides. The song gives fans another glimpse into the emotional world behind Big Mike, setting the tone for an album that promises to showcase a deeper, more personal side of the Nashville artist.
ELKE had this to say about her latest track:
Breathless’ is a song about pining. It started with an idea: what if The Virgin Suicides had a happy ending? What if Trip never left Lux in the field? The stacked Mellotrons are inspired by the score Air made for the film. I don’t usually sing this high, and it makes me feel like Kate Bush (no one will ever be Kate, though!)”
With “Breathless” now out and Big Mike on the way, ELKE’s next chapter is officially in motion. Tap in and experience the latest from one of Nashville’s most genre-defying voices.
