If this is your first time hearing of TKIY, well shame on you, we covered them in this awesome Artist Spotlight not too long ago! Anyways, we are super excited to be sharing some amazing news from this energetic duo – they will be releasing new singles every week for the rest of the year leading up to the release of their full-length album ARGENTINA! There will also be some fantastic music videos dropping along the way, as well, so be sure to Subscribe on the YOUTUBE.

The forthcoming album ARGENTINA, as you may have guessed was recorded in Buenos Aires, with producer Nico Kalwill (Coco Rosie). This came about when the group befriended an Argentinian music video cinematographer, Carlos Veron (Demi Lovato, Eminem, Ariana Grande). Carlos fell in love with TKIY’s sound and started doing everything in his power to advance their career. One thing he did was reach out to Nico Kalwill, whom Carlos had initially introduced to Coco Rosie years before. Carlos sent TKIY’s demo along to Nico and he responded saying, “You have given me two gifts in my life; the first was Coco Rosie and the second is this group, That Kid Is You”. During the production, the recording philosophy always reigned supreme: Don’t think, just do. Have fun. Play. Many names were considered for the album title, but in the end, they simply went with “ARGENTINA”. Check out their other singles and EPs on Spotify here and their new video just dropped for the fun single “Wacha Que No Ve,” check that out below, too!

For some background…That Kid Is You is made up of two best friends who make Pop and Hip-Hop like you’ve never heard before, yet is somehow familiar. It’s music you remember from the future. Both members (Paul and JC) write, produce, rap, and sing. After years of working behind the scenes as YouTube producers for channels like Steve-O, Full Send, The Dudesons and ZHC, they have now stepped to the front of the camera (and microphone) and are creating some interesting waves in the LA music scene. With influences ranging from Kanye West, to The Flaming Lips, to The Strokes, to Gloria Estefan, their sound is like no other. Never taking themselves too seriously, their self-produced music videos remind you of that child-like feeling of playing outside or building a fort with your best friends.
