Raveen is the Montreal-based collaboration of vocalist/producer Eric Seguin, bassist/producer Stokely Diamantis and drummer Peter Colantonio. “At My Best” is the first glimpse of the trio’s latest project recorded with Braids member Austin Tufts – an experiment in more direct songwriting and storytelling, with use of new instruments and tools that had previously been out of reach.
The new single captures the immediacy of falling in love while trying to retain a strong sense of self is something that anyone – especially more cynical-minded, depressive people – can relate to. The energy of “At My Best” strikes a balance for that reason between a hopeful, newfound joy and a cautious, anxious skepticism.
