Detroit artist Kambui Chui-Moore released his latest EP Conifer in January. Today we’re thrilled to premiere a new track “You Thought” below. The flow is unique and the hook is instantly memorable – this one will be on repeat all day.

In his own words:

“I was thinking about this particular person in my life who never lets people get close to them because they feel that’s the best way to not get hurt. They never learned how to deal with emotions head-on. They deflected responsibility to others so often that it became impossible to love them. So this song talks about not being afraid to take chances on new people/areas in your life. Getting it wrong one-time shouldn’t keep you in hiding forever. You keep jumping out there. Sometimes we are conditioned to believe we need to be romantically tied to someone to be happy. We should instead choose to spend time doing things that make us fulfilled and try not to question it so much. I started mumbling what became the opening verse and just let it happen from there. I started off doing rap first so the cadence here isn’t too far out of character. “
