Seattle Based Artist 44phantom Talks Latest Single, ‘all figured out’

After releasing his single, ‘all figured out’, 44phantom(Brayton Mathews) sat down with our very own Jessey Alley to further discuss the single, play rapid fire questionnaire, and much more! 44phantom is original from Oklahoma, and moved out to Seattle when he was only 16. Now 19, ‘all figured out’ is his single following his EP earlier this year, Bittersweet featuring his fan favorite ‘Poison’.

The passion for music developed at a young age for 44phantom, who wrote his first song at eight-years-old. Growing up, Mathews listened to everything from Kurt Cobain, Carrie Underwood, and Bob Dylan to Lil Wayne and Drake. After moving from the Western region of Oklahoma to Seattle with his mom during sophomore year of high school, he experienced a bit of a culture shock, jumping from a school of 60 to 3,000, so Mathews turned to writing and recording music to ease the transition. The budding artist adopted the name 44phantom to honor his late second cousin and carry on the family’s serendipitous connection to the number 44. 44phantom’s music honestly details the journey from a small town to the doorstep of stardom, wholeheartedly embracing rock influences and deep storytelling.

When asked about ‘all figured out and his own music“‘all figured out’ is about accepting a person you care about has moved on, even if you wish they hadn’t, you gotta respect it,” shares 44phantom. “I want to let everybody know it’s okay to be upfront with how you feel,” he shares. “It’s okay to be sad or mad. You don’t have to chase fake happiness. Look for the real thing. My music is really about that.”
