Cincinnati-based songwriter Cory Pavlinac, operating under the name ZOO, crafts a warm, sun-streaked blend of neo-psych and heartland Americana all swirling on his forthcoming LP, No Man’s Land. Its latest single, “Own True Love,” crackles with a sense of immediacy both in its stated origins and slipping straight into the gleaming guitar work that soars throughout.

On “Own True Love,” Pavlinac details, “This is the newest song on the record. It was written one day in the middle of the afternoon. I was sitting at home by myself, drinking coffee, just plucking away on my cheap acoustic guitar and thinking about my wife, Alex. It’s a love song, but I wanted it to be honest and also humorous. It’s sarcastic at times, a little trivial or mundane in the lyrics, but also a declaration of like, “you’re amazing and I love you!”
