With a laid back surf-rock sound, New Jersey based rockers, Wild Americans are gearing up for the release of their forthcoming debut EP ‘Lighten Up.’ The project is four tracks of pure sonic goodness, that conveys the acceptance of defeat, without the satisfaction of acceptance.

Frontman Andrew Milea had this to say about the bands debut EP:

‘When Mike and I were still in college, we collaborated on his senior thesis project. The idea was to create original musical content, record it ourselves, and come up with a hypothetical marketing plan for it. We went with a few tunes that he had written, and a couple of mine too.

We spent every day of, what felt like a very long and extremely cold winter in our studio space, where we demoed and arranged the material. When it was all said and done, we were glad to realize that the finished project was a true 50/50 collaboration, and that we had developed a unique and enjoyable process together. We showed the project to friends and they were all really encouraging. They helped push us to turn the theoretical band into a real one.

We picked out our four favorite songs, put a band together, and recorded them live at Portrait Recording Studios, with a few overdubs here and there. The overarching goal was to keep every aspect of the music as true and honest as it was before we ever planned on sharing it with the rest of the world. I feel like that one particular element of our thought process really permeates throughout the performances and in the lyrics. These songs are about living your life in the present, and facing the intimidating and beautiful gift of self awareness head on.’
