Austin based rock n’ roll band Cotton Mather is back after being on hiatus for more than a decade. That’s right, the band’s mastermind, Robert Harrison is once again mining the subject matter of Chinese philosophy for musical inspiration. Premiering exclusively on GroundSounds is Cotton Mather’s fresh new track “The Cotton Mather Pledge.”
Robert had this to say about the bands latest single:
“’The Cotton Mather Pledge’ is based is on the 13th hexagram of the I Ching which lays out guiding principles for establishing harmony and integrity within a community. The author Walker Percy was fond of saying, ‘One must do the thing they are most fit to do,’ and if there is one thing I’m fit to do, it’s writing a song about being in Cotton Mather. Feel free to place your hand over your heart when you listen.”
