We’re excited to premiere a new video today from an artist with an interesting story, LA-based multi-instrumentalist and recording engineer Paris Yavuz. Yavuz’ musical career began through interesting circumstances. Peter Haskell, an LA-based musician and actor, and Yavuz’ estranged father—had just been shot and killed. Shortly after, Haskell’s music equipment was unexpectedly delivered to Yavuz’ apartment, which prompted him to begin making music. Despite not knowing the man, Paris assigned the name Popheart to his musical offerings, in tribute.

Popheart’s new 7-inch, mastered by Tabor Allen (Cherry Glazerr, Girlpool), just released this month via Danger Collective Records. Today they’re sharing the video for the saxophone-flavored, minimalist darkwave track “Sun Sapped” with us. It’s a track and video that sets a distinct mood and draws you into its own world.
