Ricky Rebel has been a force in the music scene for a long time. Formerly Ricky G, he embarked on a solo career as Ricky Rebel after My Chemical Romance invited him to co-star in their “NA NA NA” and “Sing” videos.  In 2012, he won the Artist of the Year award at the RAWards and released his “Manipulator” album featuring the hits “Geisha Dance”, “Get It On”, “You Need a Woman” and the title track.  MTV’s “Good Vibes” also featured music from the album.  In 2013, “Geisha Dance” spent ten weeks on the Mediabase Chart, the chart that powers “On Air with Ryan Seacrest”.

In 2014, Ricky released “The Blue Album” mixed by Claudio Cueni (JLo) with remixes by world-renowned DJs Hector Fonseca (Over 20 Billboard number-one hits for artists including Beyonce, Katy Perry, Rihanna), Casey Alva (Erika Jayne) and Tommy Love. His “Boys & Sometimes Girls” single from “The Blue Album” reached #28 on the Billboard Dance Club Songs chart.

In 2017, Ricky released “The New Alpha”, his follow-up album to “The Blue Album” featuring his Billboard Top 40 single “If You Were My Baby (Remixes)”, released on Audio4Play Records. Today we’re thrilled to premiere the acoustic version of “The New Alpha” – streaming below! The acoustic version strips the track down to keys, guitars, and beautiful harmonies. Ricky’s impassioned vocals really shine and the song takes on a compelling new life.

In his own words:

“The New Alpha is a balance of masculinity / femininity, conservatism / liberalism, strength and vulnerability. Today’s cultural climate is tribalistic demanding that we choose one side over the other. Alpha is his own tribe. He thinks for himself.

Alpha is the empowered man that isn’t afraid to wear makeup or put a dress on. Colors and clothes have no gender. They’re just pieces of fabric.

The New Alpha is not overly aggressive and he’s not a door mat. He’s vulnerable and strong at the same time.

I ultimately created “The New Alpha” because I wanted certain people to toughen up and stop playing the victim. At the end of the day we are responsible for our own well being. Blaming others for our problems does nothing to fix them. At some point we have to man / woman up and crack the Alpha whip on ourselves and others and get our lives in order.”
