LA-based duo dielines have been prepping to release their debut EP and that time is upon us. These are the moments we live for at GroundSounds. A new musical force is ready to unleash their music and we are lucky enough to be the ones to premiere it on our site. Their debut EP Deep Breaths is streaming below for the first time, and we can’t say enough about it. Brief bios online describe their music as “textures to get lost in” – and we couldn’t agree more. The EP is 4 tracks, but you’ll only need one to get hooked. This is indie at its most powerful. We hope you enjoy as much as we do!

In their own words:

I wrote the majority of songs while in the process of moving back to Los Angeles from a stint in Portland, OR. After graduating from UCLA Design School for Graphic Design in 2009, I moved to Portland pursue a music career inspired by the path of Elliott Smith. Disillusioned with the scene there, I came back to LA in 2012 and succumbed to the corporate life. It wasn’t until I decided to quit full-time agency life in 2017 to try one more time to pursue my music that I finally went home to Oakland (where I grew up) to record the Deep Breaths EP with Aki Ehara (writer/producer/bassist of The Seshen, mixer of the latest James Supercave track, “Come Alone”) and my musical partner Trevor O’Neill. My goal for dielines is to blend finger-picked guitars, atmospheric strings and synths to create musical textures to get lost in.
