Royal Oak has been both a band and a group of friends for almost as long as they can remember. Although the form and names of the band have changed, one thing that has stayed the same is the lasting friendship of the band members — with more than 15 years of good times between them. Having grown up in the suburbs of Vancouver learning their instruments together, Royal Oak has entered their prime as one cohesive unit, rather than four people playing music. They recently released their new EP Pretend and have been building a big buzz.

Today we’re thrilled to premiere their new video for the single “Mistakes (ft. Chersea)” below! The video provides a split-screen narrative that holds your attention and piques your interest from the jump. The song is catchy, clean, and confident. Quite simply: the track kicks ass.

In their own words:

“The story in the video is about a love gone sour. We used continuous shots throughout the music video to really help relay the emotions of the main characters in a depth we couldn’t achieve in multiple shots. We wanted to take the average house party video and turn it on it’s head and we couldn’t be more proud of how it turned out.”
