After the violent death of ghost parade in the dirty crime filled streets of Oakland, CA, the boys are reborn under the new moniker “gP.”

The band’s unique brand of dirty trip rock infuses film noir samples, trip hop beats and driving R&B groove under an aggressive rock n’ roll mask. Like a smoking gun and duffel bag filled with dirty money, the “gP.” live show will leave you sexy and dangerous.

Today we’re excited to premiere the video for their song “Fangs Out” – streaming below! The video features impressive animation inspired by Japanese culture, and fits the ‘dirty trip rock’ vibe of the track perfectly.

In their own words:

“‘Fangs Out’ is a tribute to the warrior and explores the often hostile masculinity within its archetype. the song was inspired by Robert Moore and Douglas Gillette’s book King Warrior Magician Lover. fangs out is my take on repressed masculinity, and like all repressed archetypes, it goes underground, eventually to resurface in the form of emotional and physical violence. i found myself succeeding and failing time and time again throughout my life and battled approaching the masculinity throughout in a healthy and mature way. success and failure became more troublesome when the struggle to win became the sole purpose of my life. fangs out is about waiting and sacrificing to make that one chess move that simply defines but not necessarily wins the entire game, without letting your actions be overdone, or dramatic for the sake of drama. the warrior never acts to reassure himself that he is as potent as he hopes he is.

This song was recorded with Sean Stack at Fat Cat Recording in Sacramento. there are a few firsts for gP. within this song. we had never used synthesizers so up front before, and spent a long time choosing and blending different synths that were fun to jam. this is also our first song to have cowbell, because lets be honest, cowbell is awesome. this particular song has quite a bit of Matt Fazzi on it. Once we finished the song, Matt came in and added some terrific new guitars, vocals and synthesizers to fill out some of the space that wasn’t completely full.

This will also be the first animated music video for us and we’re quite stoked on how it turned out. Our buddies in New Language put out a great music video for their song Bail Me Out and we really loved the raw animation style, so they referred us to the artist and we sent him our concept for Fangs Out. i’m an enormous admirer of Japanese culture and cinema and i wanted a traditional washi (rice paper) look to the animation.”
