Interview: Catching Up With LUVRS + Stream Their Debut Single “Lady”

Based out of Brooklyn, new groove slingers LUVRS are hitting the scene strong with their debut single, “Lady.” The slinky soul exhibited on the track quickly establishes the group’s oeuvre as one tailor made to accompany your next night out.

To celebrate the release of “Lady,” we sent some interview questions over to LUVRS to get to know them better. Check it all out below and look for “Lady” on your preferred streaming service here.

Hi, LUVRS! Congrats on your new single. Can you tell us a little more on who you are and how you first got into making music?

Hi GroundSounds! Both of us started playing music from a young age. We grew up in New York music scenes attending local shows twice a week or more. Music has always been a huge part of our lives.

How did you two meet and decide to collaborate?

The stars aligned one night and we met at a Sofar Sounds show in someone’s living room. We agreed to meet up in the studio one day and that’s when the magic happened. Writing came easy to us because we both complemented each other’s weak points.

What’s your songwriting process like? Who are some of your biggest influences?

Usually, we get really drunk and start jamming until a gem melts out of our fingers into a computer. But our influences range far and wide. Jimi Hendrix, Mura Masa, Gil Scott Heron, FKJ, Tom Misch, Rick James, Masego, Chaka Khan, FKA twigs just to name a few

How did you arrive at the themes for your first few singles

We wanted to write songs that were sexy and fun!

Any new NY-based artists/venues/purveyors of the arts you could turn our readers onto?

Absolutely! The wonderful people at House Of Yes are good friends of ours, and they’re onto some big things for this year. Probably the coolest venue in NYC.

Where can we follow you and where can our readers catch you live next?

Follow us on Facebook @luvrsofficial, Insta and twitter @luvrsmusic, TikTok, Soundcloud.com/luvrsofficial, Spotify! No solid plans for a live performance yet but be on the lookout because we will be playing soon!
