On The Wildfires Projekt’s debut EP ‘From Which We Came’, California based act Johnny Zirkel hones his influence from across the width and breadth of alternative rock – 00s emo the likes of Taking Back Sunday, Senses Fail and Hawthorne Heights particularly prevalent. Zirkel’s song writing focuses around mental health and The Wildfires Projekt’s cathartic, honest and unequivocally approachable sound acts as the perfect backdrop for his message. The Wildfires Projekt is currently in the midst of a national tour with The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, set to recommence post-pandemic.

We’re thrilled to premiere 2 rousing covers today, Hidden In Plain View’s “Bleed For You” – and My Chemical Romance’s classic “To The End.” Zirkel pays tribute to 2 NJ staples and does them justice. These will bring you back a few years and will ignite that nostalgic passion you had when these came out. We’re excited to be able to share them today, enjoy!

In his own words:

“In life we are often displaced from where we grew up. Whether it’s because of business, family, or some other reason, we often find ourselves living somewhere foreign to what we know best. While I currently live in California, I was born and raised in New Jersey and often find myself longing to go back. The motivation behind “Garden Statement” was to create an anthology series of songs that pay tribute to the great artists of New Jersey, both well-known and lesser known, that have helped shape my music, and the music industry as a whole. Since The Wildfires Projekt is deeply rooted in the alternative and emo genres that stem from NJ, it made sense to cover My Chemical Romance and Hidden in Plain View on this first release.” – Johnny Zirkel
