San Francisco quartet Pyrite Sidewalk dropped their ‘rôr′shäk’ EP last year via Manic Kat Records, a sound that bleeds in influence from the 00s alternative rock and post-hardcore scenes with splashes of melodic punk hooks. ‘Effortlessly Subdued’ sees the four-piece go unplugged to great effect, delivering an acoustic EP choc-full of emo charm, nodding to the likes of Saves The Day and Jimmy Eat World.

They’re gearing up to release an acoustic EP in August and we’re excited to premiere the acoustic version of “Clouds” – streaming below! The track is an awesome shake-up from the heaviness of the original. It’s tough to change the vibe of a song so much and still have it work, but they’ve done a great job keeping the energy of the track while stripping out a lot of the sheer force. This is an impressive spin on the original. Enjoy!

In their own words:

“We wanted to do a softer laid back version of clouds to give it a more up close and personal vibe. It was a lot of fun making a song that was meant to be heavier toned down.

The whole idea behind doing an acoustic ep was to challenge us to do something we hadn’t done before we normally have a heavily influenced rock vibe and writing something a little more on the pop side was something we hadn’t done before. We also thought it would be cool to give fans of our music something to listen to during these tough times with not being able to tour or play shows.”
