TEOA (The End of America) is a band of friends who met on the road and found a kindred spirit in one another.  The Philadelphia/NYC/New Hampshire based trio credit their name to Kerouac’s On The Road, travelling “across the groaning continent” in search of inspiration and reaching “the end of America, no more land, and now there was nowhere to go but back.”  TEOA’s sound weaves three distinct lead vocals into captivating harmonies over a solid foundation of folk, rock and Americana.

James Downes, Trevor Leonard and Brendon Thomas joined forces in 2010 to record their debut LP, Steep Bay (2010).  TEOA released Shakey (2012) and the eponymous self-titled LP, The End of America, in 2016.  TEOA moved from the album format to singles in 2019, releasing a song per month beginning June and continuing through December of that same year.

In 2020, TEOA continues to release a song per month, and we’re thrilled to premiere the new track “Wait No More” today on GroundSounds. The song has an immediate wistful quality, drawing you in from the first note. “Wait No More” then blossoms into a beautifully harmonized gem that’ll make you hit play over and over. Fans of bands like Good Old War will absolutely fall in love with this.

In their own words:

The collaborative process was fully at work on “Wait No More.” Over video chat, we played through chord arrangements, taking turns trying different progressions and finding where the music wanted to go and what our ears wanted to hear. It’s so great to be able to play a progression and show it to your bandmate in realtime and get instant feedback. Remember when we all used to do that in the same room? Well this was the next best thing. Similarly with the lyrics, the process was like a frisbee toss. In an early demo, the chorus ended differently than the final version. It didn’t initially have the tag of “Wait No More.” But there was a line in there that caught my ear and inspired me to bring back that tag to finish it out. One throws up an idea, and someone else catches it. Adding to the urgency theme of the song, each chorus tag evolves – “The eager floor. Get on the floor. I know for sure. I will wait no more.” And so, a song was born.
