Brooklyn-based artist Hayes Peebles is set to release his new EP Ghosts tomorrow, 2/10. The EP is four diverse tracks, each with impressive, endearing qualities. From the immediate fun spirit of “Home” through to the beautiful build of “Eulogy (Crossword Puzzles)” the songs paint a picture of an emerging talent. We are excited to exclusively stream the EP a day before the release.

In his own words:

“There’s been an insane amount of pent up musical energy in my life over the past eight or so years. There are so many songs sitting on the shelf waiting to come down. For Ghosts I was picking from music written between ages 19 and 24, so very different moments in my life.

Even casual listeners know that songs are a lot like time stamps- they come to represent different phases and stages in our lives. I think the songwriter feels this even more acutely, that time capsule effect. I had to ask myself is it really ok to have this twangy drinking song alongside a bunch of dense, existential slow burners? But the real question was, how do I reconcile all these things I’ve done before with the person I am now? Are any of them worth preserving? It turns out that some of them were and I realize now, that’s exactly what the title track is about.”

Enjoy the EP below and be sure to support up-and-coming musicians and purchase the EP tomorrow!
