Kate Usher & the Sturdy Souls are an alternative soul pop rock band formed in Montauk, New York led by lead singer Kate Usher & multi-instrumentalist, Kevin Angiulo. Drawing inspiration from the seasonal beach town that they met in, the group’s music & image reflects a warm summer air that kindles your soul. The group opened separately for Matisyahu and Naughty by Nature this past summer & performs a summer residency at renowned Hamptons venue, the Surf Lodge. Today we’re excited to premiere their new EP Circles – streaming below! The EP consists of 5 sun-kissed songs that feature Kate’s amazing vocals, big time hooks, and some truly impressive instrumentation. After listening to the EP, it’s almost impossible not to be in a good mood.
In their own words:
Our debut EP, “Circles” is a warm mix of R&B, pop & acoustic tracks that will remind you of summer. The album builds through each song, beginning calm and finishing strong. It starts with the title track “Circles,” a relaxing, melodic tune with pop undertones and catchy phrasing. Next the album showcases our love for acoustic music with “Keep on Walking,” followed by “Halfway” a funky, rock blend of saxophonic R&B and jazz. The fourth song on the EP is “Life is Beautiful,” an uplifting pop rock anthem meant to inspire others to do what they love. The album wraps up nicely with “Tiny Boat” a pop – rock – love song that will keep you dancing while singing unforgettable lyrics.
