At a time when both politics and the planet seem to be spinning out of control, Colin Devlin’s new album High Point takes the sonic high ground. The world has shifted since this Irish singer and songwriter released his acclaimed solo debut Democracy of One in 2010, but his approach to finely crafted music remains steadfast, with warm arrangements and timely lyrics about exploring the darkness and light of human relationships.

Today we’re excited to premiere his new song “Exosphere” – streaming below! The track is lush and beautiful, creating a striking mood and atmosphere…truly a stunning composition.

In his own words:

‘Exosphere’ is really about a mood, and it’s an emotional piece of music that builds throughout. It’s a song about wonder… wonder in the simple everyday things, but also the big picture. What is out there? It’s probably my favourite song on the record, along with ‘Lost In The Silence’. There’s a purity of emotion in both songs that made it through the recording process and remained intact…Something that often gets lost from the initial inspiration you had when writing the song in the first place.

This song feels like a journey to me. With the final lyric, “What are you seeing?” …
On one hand, it was a question to my newborn son as I held him in my arms for the first time, and on another level, I think I’m wondering about looking down on earth, who may be watching, and what might they think of our simple, human existence?
